Co-Director and Research Director, Indiana Business Research Center
As Research Director, Timothy Slaper leads a team engaged in industry and workforce analysis, nurturing regional economic growth and resiliency, measuring innovation, trade and foreign investment analysis, and measuring educational and training program performance.
Timothy is the Principal Investigator for a U.S. Department of Commerce project on regional economic development. National in scope, the project is building a county-based data set and web tool for economic development practitioners, as well as policymakers and researchers, to assess a region’s innovative capacity, resilience and economic performance.
Timothy shares the IBRC Director responsibilities with Carol Rogers. All the IBRC work that Carol and Timothy oversee aims to provide economic development practitioners, as well as the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, the data, analytical tools and practical research to help address the challenges of improving economic outcomes in today’s rapidly changing world.
Before joining the IBRC, Timothy served as senior economist on the Joint Economic Committee of Congress researching topics such as the effect of high energy prices on economic output and the effectiveness of investment incentives in encouraging economic growth. He cut his teeth as an economist at the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
